A.P.P.A
(Albanian Platform for Policy Advocacy)
Background
For the first time in the history of Albania we are witnessing some statistics about youth and political changes. The generation of young people that today varies from 18 to 30 years of age, is the first generation that has lived its entire live in a democratic mindset. This generation is also under the average age of the Albanian population which is around 33 years.
The time has come for the young people that didn’t truly live communism, but yet spent their youth in transition, to say their word and engage their energies in a determined walk towards the future. The future that we dream for, is one of a developed country that can positively manage its own assets and nurture its great potentials.
For a long time we lacked courageous bodies in the civil society sector; we lacked an independent investigative media; and in general, we lacked a team of watchmen that could show the true needs, amplify the voice and call for true leadership.
Thus, we are confident that by constantly advocating for transparency, accountancy and social progress, this generation of youth can help this country to forward its steps towards a sustainable system of righteous democracy.
– Who are we?
A.P.P.A is the platform of inspired young professionals who monitor and evaluate the Albanian Government’s Activity, and elaborates alternative political solutions.
– What do we do?
We offer to the Albanian public an independent and competent analyses over the activity, processes and policies that their government undertakes. Driven by the spirit of social justice and constructive dialogue, we inquire the public institutions’ ability to serve and provide for the citizens.
– How we do this, and our means.
Our activity is structured in the form of a Think Tank. We monitor the government and its public institutions’ activities, and then process and analyze all the official information that we are able to retrieve from public and legal sources.
We transmit our observations to the general public. Our main means of communication are the mass media such as: TV channels, radio stations, newsletters, newspapers, website and especially social media on internet. Our work is expressed through public actions, forums, conferences and other forms of assemblies.
In order for a government to righteously govern three pillars have to stand solid.
Our objectives embody our vision for Active Citizenship in Albania.
